February 2025 – ACTIVE FLOOD RESPONSE in KY & VA  Devastating flood waters wreak havoc in historic flood Craig was driving home when the flood waters rose and eventually overtook his truck. He barely got out and swam 100 feet to safety on someone’s porch. Wading through flood waters in the dark, he eventually made it home where rescue crews rescued him by boat. Our disaster response team went and assessed Craig’s house along with many others that have sustained major flood damage. IDES is now accepting its first volunteer teams to respond to the major flooding in Eastern KY and VA. Volunteer crews will be cleaning up debris, mucking out homes, and will begin repairing homes and churches that were affected by this flood event. IDES will be running our volunteers out of Coal Run Church of Christ in Pikeville, KY but will be partnering with several other churches in Pikeville, Elkhorn City, Mouthcard, KY, and Grundy, VA.
